The Budget Council of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is established with a Decision Establishing the Budget Council of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, adopted at a Session of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia held on 26 June 2008 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 77/2008).

The validity of this Decision was terminated from the day of entrance into force of the  Law on the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 104/2009).

The Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, at a Session held on 10 July 2014, adopted a Decision on the Composition of the Budget Council of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia  

The Budget Council of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is comprised on Chair, Deputy Chair and 9 Members (Members of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia)

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia shall be the Chair of the Council, and the Chair of the Committee on Financing and Budget shall be Deputy Chair of the Council  

The Secretary General of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, the Head of the Financing and Economy Department of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia shall attend the meetings of the Council without the right to vote.  

Competences of the Budget Council:

  • Stipulates strategic priorities of the Assembly for the following year and their inclusion in the Budget of the Republic of Macedonia, proposing special programs and sub – programs
  • Gives guidelines and directions for drafting the budgetary demands and needs for the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia
  • Proposes to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in cooperation with the Ministry of Finances a minimum amount of allocation for the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia for the flowing 3 years 
  • Monitors the execution of the spending in the Budget of the Republic of Macedonia and proposes reallocation of the finances in the framework of the allocations of the Budget of the Republic of Macedonia  
  • Adopts Rules of Procedure 
  • Other Competences stipulated with Law  
In addition to these competences, the Budget Council stipulates strategic priorities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia for the next three years at least.
