At a ceremony, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski awarded Certificates of Gratitude to the professional staff of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia that participated in the organization of the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of SEECP, held in Ohrid, 27-28 May 2013.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski expressing pleasure from the visit of the Republic of Macedonia and the meeting, underlined that the fulfilment of the obligations and the efforts towards the Council of Europe are essential for the creation of a democratic society. Hence, the recommendations of the Council of Europe for the Republic of Macedonia are always expression of the support for further democratic development and the Republic of Macedonia always pays great attention to them.

In the afternoon of the 10th Conference of Presidents of Parliament of SEECP, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the Vice President of the European Parliament, Mr. Laszlo Surjan. At the meeting the President Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia is strongly interested to continue giving fresh political impulses of dialogue and together with the colleagues MEPs and MPs of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, to constructively contribute in the European Integration process.

The Parliamentary delegation headed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski , in the framework of the two days official visit to Ireland, that is presiding with EU, in addition to the meeting with the Ceann Comhairle, Mr. Seán Barrett, had meetings with the President of Ireland, Mr. Michael D. Higgins; the Minister on European Affairs; Ms. Lucinda Creighton, the Joint Committee on European Affairs and the Irish- Macedonian Friendship Group.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Veljanoski is in the first highest level official visit to Ireland, country that is currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The visit comes at an invitation from the Speaker of the Dáil Éireann (House of Deputies) Mr. Seán Barrett T.D.

At the Meeting, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the friendly relations between the two states, based on years long constructive cooperation and mutual support on bilateral and multilateral level. The President Veljanoski expressed appreciation for the position of the Republic of Slovenia towards the Republic of Macedonia, which is clear, constant, as well as loud, unconditioned, continuous and principle support for the Euro integrative process of the Republic of Macedonia.

The friendly relations and the mutual support between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia were once again confirmed at today’s meeting of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the Serbian President, Mr. Tomislav Nikolik. The topics of the meeting referred to the challenges of the two states expecting the date on opening accession negotiations with EU; the discussion on the name dispute, but also the church issue between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia and the possibility for surpassing it.

During the cordial meeting they discussed various issues, focusing on the promotion of the regional cooperation and the building of good-neighbourly relations. President Veljanoski pointed out the special interest and continued contribution of the Republic of Macedonia in the building of peace and stability in the region. In this context, he emphasized the commitments of the country in the framework of our Chairmanship-in-Office of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), aimed at raising the level of the regional cooperation, especially regarding the parliamentary relations and association.

At the beginning of the meeting the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia expressed satisfaction from the meeting and wished Mr. Lalakos successful work during his mandate as Head of Mission. The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the so far development of the friendly relations between the two states, accelerated dynamics of the friendly relations between the two states, and expressed his conviction that in the future these relations will be further developed and will be more dynamic in many areas. The President Veljanoski also underlined that the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Macedonia impose efforts to establish and develop the political dialogue and increase the number of contacts and meetings.
