Other Activities
The Joint Parliamentary Committee - Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union (EU) was established on the basis of the Stabilization and Association Agreement of the Republic of Macedonia (especially Article 114), the Resolution of the European Parliament of 10 March 2004, as well as a Decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Establishing a Delegation in the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association (Official Gazette 88/04 and 289/20). The establishment of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) reflects the strong commitment of our state to full membership in the EU, as well as the efforts of the Assembly, through parliamentary dialogue, to contribute to the process of European integration and achieving European standards.
Essentially, JPC is a forum where members of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Parliament will exchange experiences, opinions and views to strengthen mutual partnership. The Committee formally contributes to raising the level of relations and cooperation of the Assembly with the European Parliament. The main aim of JPC is to review all aspects of the relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and EU, especially the area of the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement. Defining his role in the Agreement means obligation for the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for their overall participation in the work of this Committee and providing regular information, on each JCC Meeting, of the extent of implementation of the Agreement.
The Sessions of the Joint Parliamentary Committee are concluded after the adoption of the Final Recommendations, a document that contains common positions of the two Parliaments on particular affairs of the European integration process. They are addressed to the European Parliament, the Assembly and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission. The JPC meets twice a year - once in the Assembly and once in the European Parliament and works according to its Rules of Procedure.
