MACEDONIA CONTINUES TO DELIVER RESULTS

Mr. Hajrula Misini, Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, is participating at the 48th COSAC chairpersons’ meeting held today in Limassol, Cypress, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Cypriot Deputy Minister for EU Affairs, Mr. Andreas Mavroyiannis, presented the programme and the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the EU. He said that during its Presidency, Cyprus will work Towards a Better Europe, a more effective Europe that is more relevant to its citizens and to the world, a European Union with an enhanced role on the international scene.

Regarding enlargement, Mr. Mavroyiannis said that it is an important segment in the priorities of his country’s Presidency and that Cyprus will support strongly all the aspirant countries. He added that enlargement is a visionary project that will be completed with the creation of united Europe.

Mr. Misini also used the COSAC meeting to meet his colleagues from the national parliaments of the EU member states and the candidate countries for EU membership.

The emphasis at these meetings was the strong commitment of the Republic of Macedonia to become part of the European family, and the results in the reform processes. These efforts should be rewarded with the opening of accession negotiations.

The COSAC meeting was concluded with adoption of conclusions and recommendations.
