MEETING OF CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE ON EUROPEAN AFFAIRS WITH MR. RICHARD HOWITT, MEP AND RAPPORTEUR ON THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
The Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia today had a meeting with Mr. Richard Howitt, Rapporteur of Macedonia at the European Parliament.
They discussed the results achieved with regard to the reforms in the country, the possibilities for finding a solution to the name issue, the developments in the field of good-neighbourly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria, and other issues.
Mr. Misini and Mr. Howitt welcomed the European Commission recommendation for opening the negotiations for accession in the European Union and expressed their expectations that the country will receive the date for opening the negotiations at the forthcoming December Summit of the EU. Both sides agreed that the Euro-integration processes in the country must continue because it is in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, and that the start of the negotiations on the chapters will have a positive effect on the developments in county and the region in general.
