MEETING OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MS. SVETLANA JAKIMOVSKA AND THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska had a meeting with the Members of the Committee on Selection of Scholarship Students for IPS Program of the Federal Republic of Germany.  Ms. Maria Fleksbart, MP from Germany as well as other members of the Committee attended the meeting. 

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska  underlined that the Interparliamentary Scholarship (IPS), as an activity of the Bundestag,wich in cooperation with several faculties and the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is traditionally being implemented in the past 11 years, as well as that it is being presented in the public, directly contributing in the task- young people to be the bridge between the parliaments, in the same time being participants in the reforms necessary for the European integration.

Also, she informed the attendees that since 2003, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia drafts a two weeks program for the future scholarship students, informing the students on the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the work of the assistants of the political parties. After the two weeks programs, the students in collaboration with the Department on International Cooperation evaluate the program.

Ms. Fleksbart underlined that she is acquainted with the interest for this project, and that she is informed that the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia greatly supports the IPS. They were very proud when they heard that the former scholarship students have good carers, and that one of them is Ambassador in Berlin.

She also informed Ms. Jakimovska that a regional meeting of all former scholarship students from Western Balkan will be held in Berlin, in April 2013 and invited Ms. Jakimovska to address at the meeting. 

The interlocutors also referred to the contacts with the former scholarship students and Ms. Jakimovska underlined that she has contacts with some of the former scholarship students, while the Department for International Cooperation contacts with all former scholarship students of IPS Project.

The Representatives of the German Bundestag were satisfied with the exhaustive information from the Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska and stated that this project is worthy since it contributes in the promotion of the democracy.
