PARTICIPATION OF THE MACEDONIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS MR. GJORČEV AND MR. MISINI IN THE REGIONAL PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE OF THE COMMITTEES ON DEFENCE AND SECURITY
Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, composed of the Members of Parliament Vladimir Gjorčev and Hajrula Misini, took part in the two-day “Defence and Security Committees: Regional Parliamentary Conference”, organized by RACVIAC - Centre for Security Cooperation and the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held in Rakitje near Zagreb.
The main topic of the Conference, attended by members of the parliamentary defence committees from Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Croatia and Turkey, was the legislative part of parliamentary oversight in the region and the main principles and mechanisms of parliamentary operation. Mr. Josip Leko, President of the Croatian Parliament, addressed the participants.
The Macedonian parliamentarians took part in the debate. Mr. Gjorčev informed the participants about the readiness of the Republic of Macedonia for NATO membership, emphasizing the efforts in the fight against corruption, as an important part of the reforms undertaken by the Government.
Mr. Misini spoke about the possibilities for strengthening of the mechanisms for parliamentary control in the defence and security sector and about the experiences of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in this field.
