Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner, Mr. Nils Muižnieks
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi met the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner, Mr. Nils Muižnieks , who is visiting the Republic of Macedonia.
The President Xhaferi welcomed the Commissioner to the Legislative House and informed him on the current affairs and development in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in the context of amendments of the laws in the area of protection of human rights and respect of diversities, pursuant to the acknowledged standards and practices. 
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi underlined the fact that the Assembly, through the Inter – Department Committee on Enforcement of the Decisions of the European Court on Human Rights, follows the implementation thereof.
Commissioner Muižnieks thanked the President on the detailed information and positively evaluated the activities of the Legislative House in regard with the implementation of the recommendations of the Council of Europe. 
The improvement of the legislation in the scope of the human rights, especially through the amendment of the laws in the area of discrimination and the competences of the Ombudsman are essential for improvement of human rights in times of democratic development of the state.
The Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is open for cooperation and prepared to further work on harmonization of the legislation following the recommendations of the Council of Europe.
