Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the Minister on Defence of Montenegro, Mr. Predrag Boshkovic
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi met the Minister on Defence of Montenegro, Mr. Predrag Boshkovic in the framework of his two day official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
Welcoming the guest, the President Xhaferi underlined that the intensification of the visits on highest level demonstrates the strong political will of both sides for deepening the overall bilateral relations and is an example for successful bilateral cooperation in the Region.
The President of the Assembly congratulated Montenegro on the full – fledged membership in NATO and underlined that sharing the joy from the success of Montenegro was the reason for this first official visit upon the election as President of the Assembly to Podgorica.
The President Xhaferi underlined the importance of the regional cooperation and stated that the Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro actively participate in different regional forums and centres in the context of defence and military component.
The Minister Boshkovic underlined that Montenegro, as newest Member of NATO has been through long and demanding reforms for fulfilling the needed criteria demonstrating to be a credible partner of the Alliance.
He also underlined that the Membership of the Republic of Macedonia in NATO will influence the stability of the Region and this is the reason that Montenegro will be our greatest supporter on the path to NATO.
The interlocutors evaluated the cooperation in the area of defence to be very successful, especially in the area of education of cadets and helicopter pilots training.
The President Xhaferi referred to the current political development in the Republic of Macedonia and the recent local elections.
