FAREWELL MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND MS. DANIJELA BARISIC, AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA TO THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA

At the meeting, president Xhaferi expressed gratitude for the past co-operation and support from friendly Croatia. The two interlocutors also discussed the current issues of the Republic of North Macedonia. Special emphasis was put on the topic of NATO membership, as well as on the forthcoming Presidency of the Republic of Croatia in the Council of the European Union and their programme and priorities.

To be here today, in this sad place, a place that echoes with silence which is louder than the largest rumbling is a painful feeling. The sorrow and the pain are felt in each breath taken, on each step made on this ground. Still, one has to be strong and make a dignified step, to pay respect to the victims, to the known, to the unknown, to the revealed and still unrevealed to show with deed that we are aware of the huge human tragedy, to show that we do have a human and moral responsibility and respect, to encourage and urge ourselves never to forget, never to forget so it never happens again!

It is truly an honor that you are here today in such a great number, at this ceremonial event for the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, for the Swiss Embassy in the Republic of North Macedonia and for the National Democratic Institute. Allow me to express how pleased I am today that we are celebrating the co-operation between the Assembly, the Swiss Embassy and NDI in such a solemn way, and promoting the "Parliament Support Programme" in a symbolic and interesting fashion.

The topic we are debating on today, the European Union and its neighbours, is of special importance to us, candidate countries for full membership, since it reaffirms the open door policy for the countries of the Western Balkan region. This is even more important because this is the election year for the European Parliament, which is the foundation of democratic life, not only within the European Union but the whole continent too.

Address of the President Xhaferi to Members of Parliament in the Seimas of Lithuania 

Today, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania has ratified the Protocol of the North Atlantic Treaty for the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia with a unanimous voting from 92 votes pro. President Xhaferi who is in Vilnus on invitation of the Speaker of the Seimas, Mr. Pranckietis, addressed the Seimas with the following words:

President Gramoz Ruci on official visit to the Republic of Macedonia

At the invitation of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, a Delegation headed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Gramoz Ruci, had an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.  The President of the Assembly, Mr. Ruci, was welcomed with high state honors, and the first meeting of the official visit was held with the host, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi.
