Meeting of the President Xhaferi and Ms. Liliana Tangi, Member of the National Assembly of the French Republic 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi met Ms. Liliana Tangi, Member of the National Assembly of the French Republic, Deputy Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and the Group for Cooperation with the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi at the beginning expressed pleasure from the unburdened, extraordinary and friendly relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the French Republic. Welcomed the continuous French support for the Euro Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, underlining that the strengthening of the interparliamentary relations and the multilateral cooperation is of outmost importance. He stated that an important segment of the promotion of the mutual relations is the parliamentary diplomacy whose methods of communication will provide constructive and stabile cooperation. The President Xhaferi informed on the expectations for Positive progress Report, without conditioned recommendation for opening the accession negotiations, as well as full-fledged membership in NATO, finalizing the overall Euro- Atlantic Integration of the state. Ms. Tangi welcomed the progress of the Republic of Macedonia, which compared to the last year’s unpleasant developments in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and conveyed the efforts of the French Assembly of the realization of the reform processes that will provide better European Integration of the Republic of Macedonia. Thus, the state will above all demonstrate preparedness to revitalize the legal state and the fundamental principles of democracy bringing the final result – full-fledged membership in EU. As member of the French Assembly, she is actively involved in the Foreign Policy Committee and is a Rapporteur for Western Balkans, closely cooperation with the Cabinet of the French Speaker in regard with conveying and reporting the affairs in these states. Ms. Liliana underlined that she supports his perceptions and efforts for the future of Europe, meaning that through a civil debate, the public of Europe to be convinced that the EU enlargement with Western Balkans is justified, expected and benefits all stakeholders. 

The interlocutors shared views on the strong role of the Parliaments in building positive and valuable opinion for the legislative procedure, the necessity to respect the Rules of Procedure and the Constitution, as well as the constructive cooperation between the governance and the opposition in the debate for important legislation. They underlined the need from intensification of the communication between the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the national Assembly of the French Republic on highest level, as well as cooperation on the level of parliamentary groups for cooperation, as an important mechanism for the overall interstate communication.
