Address of the President Xhaferi at the Meeting of IPPG “Family for Every Child” 

When I have read the program for today’s meeting, especially the topic “Family for Every Child”, I recalled the novel of Charles Dickens “Oliver Twist” , whose narration starts with the depiction of the living conditions of children without parents in an orphanage and their severe abuse. I believe that many of you have read the novel or watched a filmed adaptation of this novel.

Address of the President Xhaferi at the Regional Conference of the Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finances and European Integration of Western Balkan 

Upon a rule, November and December are the months when the vigorous debates in the Parliaments on the budget for the upcoming year take place. Hence, I believe that this is the right timing for today’s’ Conference on “Strengthening Legislative Scrutiny in Western Balkan Parliaments”. I would like, at the very beginning, to express pleasure that the Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finances and European Integration of Western Balkan, supported by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the World Bank organizes this conference, from which I believe we shall all take positive findings and experiences.

Address of the President Xhaferi at the Opening of the Science Conference on Air Pollution  

„Think locally, act globally“is the motto in the activities of many Green NGOs and Green Political Parties. I believe that this manner of thought, if you wish, philosophy of life, should be the foundation of the awareness for the ecology, thus the foundation of the care of the environment of every human on the Planet Earth. I personally think that as peace is undividable category, the protection of the environment, in other words the care for our planet is an undividable category.

Address of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi at the 8th Conference of Speakers of Parliament of the Countries of the Western Balkans “EU Integration: Results And Aspirations”

This is the Eight Conference of Presidents of Parliament from our Region, the Western Balkan, organized by the Hungarian National Assembly and these meetings become a tradition which I am confident will continue. I want to seize this opportunity and to express appreciation to our host, the distinguished colleague, Laszlo Kover, as well as to the Hungarian National Assembly for the demonstrated continuity in their international activities, in other words, the parliamentary diplomacy for the Western Balkan States. Certainly, this is a sign of principle foreign policy of Hungary towards the Western Balkan Sates and their integration in EU. This is a policy based on the determination of open doors and the enlargement of the European family. In this manner, Hungary openly manifests the essential principle Europe is founded on, the principle of solidarity.

Promoting cultural pluralism and peace through inter-faith and inter-ethnic dialogue   

Planet Earth persists and is pretty, above all, due to the natural biodiversity. I personally believe that the ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious diversity, in other words, differences that create and move the human civilization, are of equal importance for the survivor of the Planet.

Address of the President Xhaferi at the Opening of the “Balkan Conference on the Occasion of the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, 1517-2017” 

Welcome to the legislative house of the Republic of Macedonia, the home of all citizens. At the very beginning of my mandate I have expressed my intention to open this temple of democracy for all initiatives, needs and positive steps in building a better, healthier and more democratic society, where all the citizens will be equal and equitable in their rights and obligations. This conference, which marks the 500th anniversary since the Protestant Reformation is a proof of my intention.

Address of the President Xhaferi at FON University’s Students 

26 years ago, pursuant to the result of the referendum, when the citizens voted for independent and sovereign state, the first parliamentary composition realized this decision through the Assembly. One of the first priorities, defined and adopted then, was the overall integration of the Republic of Macedonia in the Euro – Atlantic structures, in other words, full – fledged membership in NATO and EU.

Address of the President Xhaferi at the Debate on “Political Participation of People with Disability” 

On 6th September, here in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia the Interparty Parliamentary Group for the Rights of the People with Handicap was established. This Group is not a classic body of the Assembly, such as the Assembly Committees, Parliamentary councils or others, but it is a parliamentary lobby group whose name clearly indicates that the Group goes beyond the party affiliation of its Members, as well as the classic political division present in this Assembly, in other words the majority and the opposition. As a President of the Assembly I am pleased that my colleagues, MPs, Members of this Interparty Lobby  Group, together with the OSCE Mission to Skopje and Polio Plus – NGO, are organizing this debate only ten days after the first Meeting.

Address of the President Xhaferi at the Conference “Culture and Peace on the Balkans – Parliamentarians’ Role” 

Peace is one of the greatest values of the human civilization. It is undividable and universal value which simultaneously, due to the people’s behavior is very fragile. We, people of the Balkans, have felt its fragility in the recent past, in particular after the dissolution of  former Yugoslavia and the price was high, thousands lives lost, devastated homes, annulled resources. Nevertheless, I believe that with the assistance of the international community we have realized that, everything, even the most difficult issues and differences are resolved through dialogue. Thus, each resolution of a conflict should be found in dialogue alone.
