Address of the President Veljanoski at the opening of the Parliamentary Committee on PD CEI

It is my great pleasure to address before you at the beginning of the Session of the Parliamentary Committee on the framework of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative, one of the oldest regional organizations in Europe, Today, CEI gathers 18 states, out of which 10 are member states of the European Union.

CEI – Bridge of Macro regional and Different strategies

Today, in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative (PD CEI) holds the regular Session on Relevance of EU Macro-Regional Strategies as an Opportunity for Cross-Border Cooperation among CEI Member States: the Role of Parliaments.

As last year's Chairperson of the parliamentary dimension I am very glad to be here today and grateful to our hosts for organising this meeting, for choosing such an important topic for our deliberations and last but not least for your remarkable hospitality.

I would like to express my gratitude to the Macedonian CEI Presidency and to the Parliament for the warm hospitality and organisation of this important event under this timely topic. The regional and cross-border cooperation have been attracting renovated interest during the last years, mainly because of macro-regional strategies launched at European Union (EU) level.
