Meeting of the Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska with the Deputy Prime Minister for Legislation and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovakia Ms. Viera Petríková

The Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska had a meeting with the Delegation from the Republic of Slovakia, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Legislation and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovakia Ms. Viera Petríková.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Slovakia, Ms. Sonja Mirakovska also attended the meeting. 

Both sides concluded that the bilateral relations between the two countries are characterised by friendship and high degree of understanding, as well as commitment for their further development. The Delegation from the Republic of Slovakia was informed that the current composition of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia has also established a Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Slovakia. 

Special emphasis was given to the cooperation of the Macedonian Assembly with the National Council of the Republic of Slovakia in the framework of the project of the National Council for building of the democratic capacity of the parliaments in the Western Balkans countries, supported by the National Democratic Institute and an NGO form Slovakia. 

The Vice-President of the Macedonian Assembly expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Slovakia for the continuous support of the Republic of Macedonia on its path towards the EU and NATO. 

Regarding the relations in the field of economy, it was pointed out they need to be further developed, and that the existing agreements and the singing of the Agreement on avoiding double taxation should provide new impetus for intensification of the economic cooperation.
