Members of the parliament signed the Declaration on Dialogue and Respect between Cultures and Religions in the Mediterranean Region
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, in cooperation with the Turkish Parliament, held the 4-th Annual Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, which took place in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey on 23 and 24 October 2009.
At this Session, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia was represented by Mr. Safet Neziri, MP, member of the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and Mr. Vanco Kocev, MP, alternate-member of the Delegation.
The Session was dedicated to a debate on the draft-resolutions prepared on the basis of the Draft-reports by the three standing committees which refer to: Situation in Middle East, organized crime, fight against terrorism, dialog of cultures and religions in the Mediterranean region, energy related issues in the Mediterranean region, environment and climate change, water management, natural disaster management, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the gender and equality issues. Those reports have been debated during the 4th Meeting of the Standing committees held at the end of June in Lisbon, Portuguese Republic. 
Eminent political figures addressed the PAM parliamentarians, such as: H.E. Reccep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, Hon. Mehmet Ali Sahin, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mr. Robert Walter, President of the Assembly of WEU, Dr. Sima Bahous, Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Mehmet Cicek, Vise President of the PA of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, Mrs. Karen AbuZayd, UNRWA Commissioner general and other personalities.
During the Session, the parlamentarians signed the Letter of Commitment for dialogue among cultures and religions in the Meditarrenan region.
The Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, on behalf of Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, conveyed to Mr. Sergio Piazzi, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, the donation of an artisan gift for the purposes of the Palace of Meditarranean (the seat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in La Valetta, Republic of Malta), for which a sincere and warm gratitude has been received.
