Efficient implementation of the reforms

The Chairman of the Committee on European Issues, Mr. Petar Pop Arsov, on the 44th meeting of COSAC, underlined, in his address, that the date on opening accession negotiations  and the uninterrupted Euro-Integration process remain to be the highest priority for the Republic of Macedonia.

The Republic of Macedonia is focused on two primary goals: efficient implementation of the reforms and maximization of the efforts for solution of the name issue imposed by our Southern neighbour- the Republic of Greece.

Regarding the reforms, the Republic of Macedonia continues to provide concrete and visible results in the key reform areas the state administration; the judiciary; the fight against the corruption the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, harmonization with the Acquis and improvement of the implementation of the laws; and reforms in the economy.

Regarding the name issue, The Republic of Macedonia is under pressure to be more engaged and to have a more active role in finding a solution for the dispute. The authorities of the Republic of Macedonia are continuously offering suggestions and alternatives in the process of finding a solution for this issue, without jeopardizing the interests of the Republic of Macedonia or the Republic of Greece. In this context, we consider that the Slovenian-Croatian model is applicable in our case - to have a parallel process of negotiations for EU membership and negotiations with the Republic of Greece, if the Greek side does not demonstrate interest for surpassing this issue.

The Chairman of the Committee on European Issues posed a question to the President of the European Parliament, Mr. Van Rompuy which referred to the Euro-integrative process of the Republic of Macedonia.
