Participation of women is important for the whole society

Women Parliamentarians’ Club from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, H.E. Simonne Fillipini, the General Director and the Management Director of the Dutch Organization Women Inc, Ms. Jannet Vaessen and Ms. Alet Klarenbeek. 

Ms. Katerina Dimeska, Coordinator, Ms. Slavica Grkovska, Ms Zumrete Jakupi, Ms. Flora Kadriu and Ms Sonja Mirakovska, Members of the Presidency attended this Meeting.

Ms. Katerina Dimeska opened the meeting and informed the partisans with the constitution, the activities and the significant achievements and the single goal of the World Parliamentarians’ Club- using the legislative solutions to achieve gender equality and promotion of the rights of women, their inclusion of the decision making process in the state, as well as strengthening and broadening the democracy in all areas of the Macedonian society, underlining the principle of consensus in the work and the decision making process of the Women Parliamentarians’ Club. 

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, H.E. Simonne Fillipini together Ms. Jannet Vaessen and Ms. Alet Klarenbeek presented the activities of the Women Inc organization, whose aim is to provide overall participation of women in the Dutch society.

The equal participation is not only important for the individual position of the woman but it is important for the overall society from every aspect- economy, science, culture, power etc. 

Ms Wansen underlined the five theses of Ms. Janet Wansen and Ms. Alet Klarenbeek Women Inc, implementation of economic independence; exercise the women rights, emancipation of parents, increased representation and diversity of women in the media, increased participation of women, especially mobility in the education and employment.  

The MPs. Ms. Slavica Grkovska, Ms Zumrete Jakupi, Ms. Flora Kadriu, Ms. Sonja Mirakovska, Ms. Natasha Janevska, Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova and Ms. Liljana Popovska as well as Ms. Daniela Dimitrievska Executive Director of the Macedonian Women Lobby, agreed that these theses are important for Macedonia as well, though the order and priority differ. 

In the same time it was underlined that there are networks in the Republic of Macedonia for emancipation of women which lobby and work on the implementation of the important activities. 

The participants called on providing finances, increasing the quotas for women in the legislative and in the executive governance, fight against poverty and incensement of the position of women 

At the end of the meeting it was underlined that the establishment of networks of this kind aims to increase the awareness and emancipation of women, but in order to provide emancipation, there is a need of support by men as well as emancipation of men.
