SCRUTINY DEBATE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAW ON FREE ACCESS TO PUBLIC INFORMATION 

The Committee on Political System and Inter-Ethnic Relations from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia on its 60th meeting held a public debate on “Implementation of the Law on Free Access to Public Information”.

Ms. Zoran Petreski opened the scrutiny debate and the Minister of Justice addressed the present and underlined that the adoption of this Law is a step forward to the democratization of the society. 

These addresses were followed by the addresses and questions for: Mr. Janko Nikolvki Chair of the Committee on Protection of the Right for Free Access to Public Information, Ms. Biljana Petkovski Executive Director of the Macedonian Institute for Media, Ms. Nada Korunovsja Coordinator of the program of the Open Society Institute Program , Mr. Zarko Hadzi- Zafirov from the Union of Junior Lawyers, Ms. Sanja Bozinovik, Coordinator off the Legal Clinic on Free Access to Public Information, Youth Education Forum Ms. Irena Shumadieva, Project Coordinator- Metamorphosis, Mr. Kosta Dojchinovski from the Management on Property and Legal Relations, Ms. Danica Antovska from the Management Court, Ms. Olivera Kitanovska from the Attorney’s office, Ms. Snezana Teodosiveska, State Advisor, State Attorney’s office, Ms. Vesna Trajanova from the Primary Court 2 and Mr. Boshko Stojanov, Head of the Office of the Mayor of Gorche Petrov. 

This Law regulates the conditions, manner and procedure for exercising the right of free access to public information that have the state government and other institutions established by law, municipal bodies, the City of Skopje and the municipalities in the City  public services, public enterprises, legal and natural persons  exercising public powers and activities of public interest established by law.

This law ensures transparency in the operation of  holders of information, and enables natural and legal persons to  exercise their right to free access to public information.

The Committee on Political System and Inter-Ethnic Relations will continue to review the materials and the statements of the participants in the scrutiny debate.
