THE GERMAN SCHOLARSHIPS PROJECT – of great BENEFIT for THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

In the framework of the International Parliamentary Scholarship Programme (IPS), the Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Rafis Aliti had a meeting with a Delegation from the German Bundestag. Mr. Aliti underlined that the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia highly appreciates the cooperation with the Scholarships Project, which provides an opportunity for the future young leaders to be directly acquainted with the work of the Bundestag

The German Delegation was headed by Ms. Ute Kumpf, Member of the German Bundestag, accompanied by the Director of the Institute of Physics of the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Deputy Head of the Management and Technology Department.

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia pointed out that the bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Federal Republic of Germany are characterised with high degree of mutual understanding, and expressed hope that this will continue in the future.

Both sides concluded that the three elected scholarship students will have an excellent opportunity to learn more about the German political, but also parliamentary, academic, cultural and economic life, and that later they can transfer their experience in the Republic of Macedonia.

Ms. Kumpf said that she was impressed from the Macedonian students and their interest for Germany, as well as from the thorough preparation for the selection of the scholarship students. She added that she was surprised that most of the applicants were female.

The Vice-President of the Macedonian Assembly suggested that during the selection for scholarship priority should be given to students interested to work in the field of education. He underlined that the politicians should inform more the students about the ISP Project and its opportunities.

The German Delegation told the Vice President of the Assembly that they will inform the Office in Berlin, and expressed hope that the experiences from the stay in Germany will be of benefit for both the students and their countries.
