Media statement after the meeting between the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Macedonia and the President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia

Today’s meeting with H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Macedonia, Mr. Karol Bachura and the President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Bjakna Subotik was on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary from the liberation of the Auschwitz Nazi camp, which presents the end of the Holocaust. The Conference dedicated on the Holocaust, but also on promotion of the tolerance and dialogue as values on which the peace is founded, will be held in Krakow, on 26 and 27 January

The Conference will be organized by the European Friends of Israel, and includes Speakers of the European states parliament, MPs and highest representatives of Israel.

I would like to underline that I received this invitation with great pleasure and as a President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia I am looking forward to participating on this, for me, very important conference, since its fundamental goal is to prevent creation of any condition for repetition of the Holocaust and once again to affirm the tolerance, dialogue, respect of human rights, as values on which the future of the world is built.

I consider this conference as recognition of Macedonia, as a country where we all together build society in which the  human rights are respected, a society of tolerance for others, and all these values are not in the legal framework alone, but they are reaffirmed and upgraded constantly. In the same time, this is an occasion for us to commemorate the 7200 fellow citizens Jews who were deported in 1943 and tragically executed in the death camp Treblinka.
