Meeting of the Delegation from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia with the Speaker of the Canadian Senate

Welcoming the Macedonian parliamentarians, the Speaker of the Canadian Senate, the Honourable Noel A. Kinsella, pointing out that the relations between the two countries have a long history and that Canada has no problem in using the word Macedonia.

Mr. Kinsella said that he strongly believes in parliamentary diplomacy which can open many doors because it does not suffer from the limitations of the other types of diplomacy.

He expressed readiness for further development of the cooperation between the two countries, continuation of the support that Canada is giving to the Republic of Macedonia on its road towards full membership in NATO, as well as understanding for the importance of the visa liberalization for the Macedonian citizens.

The Speaker of the Canadian Senate also expressed his satisfaction from the loyalty the Macedonians living in Canada are showing for their new home country which contributes to the strengthening of the relations between the two friendly countries.

Besides the Speaker of the Senate, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the members of the Macedonian Delegation composed of the Members of Parliament Mr. Andrej Petrov Mr. Aleksandar Nikoloski and Mr. Safet Neziri also met the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Mr. Peter Van Loan, and the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, Mr. Steve Peters.
