MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR FROM THE KINGDOM OF SWEDEN TO THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, H.E. LARS WAHLUND

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Macedonia H.E. Lars Wahlund. During the meeting the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the support that the Republic of Macedonia has been receiving from the Sweden, as a country which is a sincere friend of the Republic of Macedonia and emphasised the successful Swedish Chairmanship with EU and the preparedness of Sweden to support us to receive an date on opening negotiations with the European Union

The President Veljanoski referred to the reforms made by the Republic of Macedonia in the area of the EU integration and the fulfilment of the European criteria, but as the President stated, the biggest obstacle for the Republic of Macedonia is the imposed name issue by the Republic of Greece and the closure of this issue will benefit us, but also it will benefit the European integration of the whole Balkan. 

The Newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Lars Wahlund   expressed pleasure and appreciation for the meeting with the President of the Assembly, and underlined that Sweden will continue to support the Republic of Macedonia on its way towards the EU and NATO and expressed pleasure for the level of reforms made by the Republic of Macedonia and its preparedness and high support of the citizens for the Membership in EU and NATO, and as the Ambassador underlined, the name should not be the only criteria for unblocking the Euro-integration processes, but it is the only obstacle at this moment and he hopes that this obstacle will be eliminated with common efforts.
