The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, met the Chairman of the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wu Bangguo
The delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia that is in an official visit to the People’ Republic of China had a meeting with the Chairman of the National People's Congress of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wu Bangguo. The Delegation, headed by the President of the Assembly Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, is composed of Ms. Silvana Boneva, Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova and Mr. Xhevat Ademi. This was the first meeting of the Presidents of the national Parliaments of the two countries.
President Veljanoski emphasized that this meeting at the highest level can be used as the basis for intensification of the parliamentary cooperation, as well as for further development of the overall relations between he Republic of Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China.He expressed appreciation for the consistent support of China regarding the recognition of the constitutional name of our country, which is a confirmation of the true friendship that exists between the two countries.
President Veljanoski said that the Republic of Macedonia is committed to the realization of its strategic goals for full EU and NATO membership, but at the same time it wants to intensify the relations with the People’s Republic of China. He expressed his conviction that these relations will continue to develop, especially in the field of culture, science and tourism.
This will contribute to intensification of the economic cooperation, and the Chinese companies investing in Macedonia have the possibility for entry into the European market.
President Veljanoski expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Government for the assistance for participation of the Republic of Macedonia at the Shanghai Expo 2010 and for the possibility to present the Macedonian culture, tradition and historical values at this global event.
The Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress said that the meeting is important as encouragement for intensification of the cooperation between the two countries. Chairman Wu Bangguo also pointed out that China respects and fully understands the right of the Republic of Macedonia to use its constitutional name, 
adding that he hopes that the dispute will soon be resolved under the auspices of the United Nations.
At the end of the meeting President Veljanoski expressed gratitude for the hospitality and extended an invitation to his colleague to visit the Republic of Macedonia.
During its visit to the People’s Republic of China the Delegation of the Republic of Macedonia will attend the opening ceremony of Shanghai Expo 2010 and meet several other high-ranking Chinese officials.
