THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI, OPENED THE MACEDONIAN PAVILION AT SHANGHAI EXPO 2010

Yesterday evening the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Veljanoski attended the dinner hosted by the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Hu Jintao on the occasion of the opening of Shanghai Expo 2010. Around 50 heads of state and governments and presidents of parliaments attended the dinner which was followed by the opening ceremony.

Today President Veljanoski visited Expo 2010 and opened the Macedonian Pavilion. The National Commissioner of the Republic of Macedonia to Expo 2010, Mr. Metodija Hadzi Velkov, was present at the ceremony, together with the Macedonian Ambassador to China Mr. Oliver Sambevski, and the members of the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia visiting China: Ms. Silvana Boneva, Ms. Cvetanka Ivanova, and Mr. Xhevat Ademi.

The National Commissioner Hadzi Velkov showed the members of the Delegation around the Macedonian Pavilion, designed in the form of a honeycomb with motifs of the Macedonian urban and rural landscape.

President Veljanoski and the members of the Macedonian Delegation also met Mr. Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China. President Veljanoski expressed his satisfaction from the intensification of the cooperation and the relations between the two countries, characterized by friendship and mutual understanding. President Veljanoski also said that he is convinced that the relations will continue to develop, especially regarding the economic cooperation.

Vice President Xi Jinping pointed out that the participation of the Republic of Macedonia at Shanghai Expo 2010 demonstrates its respect towards the People’s Republic of China as host to this important global event.

He also said that the relations between the Chinese and the Macedonian people have always been friendly, confirmation for which are the various meetings held between representatives of both countries at different levels.
