THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI HAD A MEETING WITH THE EMIR OF THE STATE OF QATAR, HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH HAMAD BIN KHALIFA AL THANI

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the President Veljanoski expressed his conviction that the meeting will contribute in the cooperation with the State of Qatar and the exchange of opinions of mutual interest on bilateral and multilateral areas. He espressed his appreciation for the development of the bilateral  relations between the two countries characterised with a high degree of friendship and understanding, and underlined that there is great potential for further promotion of all areas of mutual interest, especially in the area of economy, in direction of realization of concrete projects for investments in the Republic of Macedonia. 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia highly appreciates the proactive and important role of Qatar in the stabilization of the situation in Near East and in the world, as well as for the independent and peaceful policy of Qatar. He stated that their views of the situation in North Africa, Near East, Palestine as well as of the general affairs in Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen and Syria are very important.

The President Veljanoski reaffirmed the appreciation for the support of Qatar and its solidarity for the Republic of Macedonia, regarding the principle use of the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia in bilateral and multilateral communication.

Veljanoski expressed his pleasure for the bilateral agreements in the area of investment, culture, education, healthcare, tourism, exchange of information, regulation of the employment in the State of Qatar, the relations between the Chambers of Commerce in the two states ratified during this important visit.

In this context, opening an Embassy of Qatar in Skopje, beside the political significance, will have strong economic importance, providing high degree of trust and security for the Qatar companies that wish to work in the Republic of Macedonia. In this context, the ratification of the Agreement on Motivation and Protection of Investments was underlined, since the legal framework in the economic area is completed.

Also, the President expressed pleasure from the achieved level of relations and cooperation between the two states on multilateral level, especially in the framework of the United Nations and numerous international organizations.

At the end, the President Veljanoski called upon His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani to evaluate the cooperation and the development of the events in North Africa and Near East.

The Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani  referred in details to the situation in North Africa, Near East, Palestine issue, precisely Egypt, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. At the end, he referred to the situation in Tunisia, where the State of Qatar influenced the stabilization. He also referred to the events and the situation in Iraq.

His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani emphasised the active and significant role of the State of Qatar in the process of peacekeeping and stabilization of the region of Near East and North Africa, as well as in the support of the democratization of the region.

Regarding the economic cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia, the realization of common projects and investments, His Highness, His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, expressed pleasure that during his visit, many bilateral agreements were ratified, and underlined that the investments should be expected in very near future, demonstrating if the dynamics of cooperation and investments is appropriate with the agreements of economic cooperation in the past two days.

In the end, His Highness His Highness, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani expressed his pleasure for the visit.
