INTENSIFICATION OF THE BILATERAL COOPERATION IS IN THE COMMON INTEREST OF MACEDONIA AND MOLDOVA 

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Svetlana Jakimovska welcomed H.E. Aleksandru Prigorski, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Macedonia, located in Sofia, on the occasion of handing over the credentials. 

Ms. Jakimovska on her own behalf and on behalf of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the guest in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

She congratulated him for his appointment as a newly appointed and plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Macedonia and underlined that his appointment will contribute in strengthening the dynamics of the friendly relations of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova, which is in the interest of both states. 

Beside the strategic determination and priorities regarding EU and NATO, the Republic of Macedonia is strongly interested in intensifying and promoting the cooperation with the countries from Europe, which are not members of EU and NATO but can strongly contribute for the overall political climate in Europe- underlined the Vice President. 

We need to find the most appropriate form for intensification of the bilateral cooperation in every area of common interest; especially we must consider the possible economic cooperation and trade between the two countries using their potentials. 

Ms. Jakimovska stated that our side is interested for promotion of the cooperation on multilateral plan. The Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova can support each other in the framework of different institutions and bodies from the UN and other international organizations and forums. 

The Vice President Jakimovska informed the Ambassador Prigorski on the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and underlined that this is the institution which has central role in the promotion of the democratic processes in the country, strengthening the dialogue, developing democracy and effective legislative and scrutiny role. The Assembly is devoted on providing constructive dialogue between the political factors, between the governing and oppositional parties in direction of sustainable enforcement of the key reforms in the state, especially in the harmonization with the Acquis.

Also the overall legislative process, starting from submission of the law in the Assembly procedure, the submission of amendments, until the adoption and publishing is being executed electronically, which means that we have implemented the so called E-Parliament, which made a qualitative step forward in direction of higher transparency of the Assembly.

In the end, Ms. Jakimovska referred to the parliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova and underlined that beside the informal contacts in the framework of the multilateral meetings between the parliaments, there is no additional cooperation. That is why; she hopes that the Ambassador will make efforts for establishing cooperation and contacts between the parliaments of the two states, providing her support.

H.E. Ambassador Aleksandru Prigorski emphasized that meetings on a higher level, between the Speakers and the Prime Ministers need to be established. He also underlined that they will present the Republic of Macedonia in the Republic of Moldova, since, both state have little information for each other; the Republic of Moldova will be presented before the business community of the Republic of Macedonia and a Consulate of the Republic of Moldova will be opened in the Republic of Macedonia.

Regarding the economic exchange between the two states, it needs to be intensified, since this cooperation is about one million dollars.
Also, Ms. Prigorski stated that he will be devoted on establishment of a group for friendship between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Macedonia.
