meeting of the President Veljanoski and the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Samuel Zbogar  

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Samuel Zbogar. 

On the meeting, both sided evaluated the bilateral relations as very good, in the area of politics, culture and economy and are in the interest of both countries and that is why, these relations should be constantly promoted and broadened. The President Veljanoski underlined the cooperation between the two parliaments on every level, from the level of friendship groups, committees and regular meetings of the speakers. Discussing on the present situation the President underlined that the European practice of parliamentary democracy has left the principle of boycott as a method of pressure. 

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure, the Law on the Assembly and the Constitution, a real and efficient framework for political dialogue , in accordance with the principles which govern the EU Member States. This was clearly underlined in the last two EC Progress Reports for the Republic of Macedonia- underlined Mr. Veljanoski.   
 
The Slovenian Minister on Foreign Affairs underlined that the highly developed relations between the two states are one of the priorities for the Slovenian foreign policy. According to the evaluation of Mr. Zbogar, the Republic of Macedonia is waiting for a date on opening accession negotiations for too long. Nevertheless, the bilateral issue with the Republic of Greece should not be the condition for this, considering the manner of adoption of decisions in EU and NATO, Mr. Zbogar  recommends that this issue should be solved as soon as possible, since this is in the interest of the Republic of Macedonia, but also in the interest of the stability of the Region and EU. 

Reminding that both states are marking 20th anniversary since their independence, the minister Zbogar expressed hope that a delegation from the Assembly and the President of the Assembly will attend the celebration in Ljubljana.
