MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE VICE PRIME MINISTER OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL, MR. MOSHE YA'ALON AND THE CHAIR OF THE PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP OF THE KNESSET, MS. LIA SHEMTOV 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, welcomed the Vice Prime Minister of the State of Israel and Minister on Strategic Issues of the State of Israel, Mr. Moshe Ya'alon, and had a separate meeting with the Chair of the Parliamentary  Frienship Group of the Knesset and the Macedonian Assembly, Ms. Lia Shemtov. 

Wishing the guests from Israel pleasant stay in the Republic of Macedonia, the President Veljanoski expressed pleasure for the frequent meetings on bilateral level including this meting regarding the opening of the Memorial Centre of the Holocaust and the remembrance of the 7144 our co-citizens Jews and their horrifying destiny, deportation in the death camp Treblinka in 1943

The President Veljanoski underlined that the construction of the memorial Centre of the Holocaust  sends a clear message to the world which reads: never again. The Memorial Centre of the Holocaust is located in the centre of the capital Skopje, in the old Jewish district and it will be a testimony for the past and the tradition of the Macedonian Jews, as well as a institution for numerous cultural and humanitarian events and programs. 

The gusts from Israel conveyed the President of the Assembly the greetings from the Speaker of the Knesset, Mr. Reuven Rivlin and the Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Liberman. The President Veljanoski reaffirmed the invitation for Mr. Rivlin to visit the Republic of Macedonia. 

On the meeting with the Vice Prime Minister Ya'alon, the discussion was on the good friendly relations between the two states, which are intensified, the Euro-integration process of the Republic of Macedonia as well as other issues regarding the events in North Africa. In this context, the Vice Prime Minister Ya'alon underlined that it is very important that these events result in affirmation and practice of the democratic values. 

At the meeting with Ms. Shemtov, the President reaffirmed the pleasure of our delegation during the official visit of the State of Israel, during which the efforts of the Republic of Macedonia for building a true co-life, building peace and stability in the region and wider were welcomed. The permanent dialogue and friendship in the area if politics, economy and culture which are being maintained between the two states, as well as the continuity of the parliamentary cooperation were affirmed. The discussion was also on the need for intensive economic cooperation ad the modalities for attracting investments from Israel.
