BAVARIA CONTINUOUSLY SUPPORTS THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA IN THE EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

The Bavarian Parliamentary Delegation of the Committee on federal and European Affairs, headed by Ms. Ursula Manle, during its visit of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, realised several meetings with: the Chairperson of the National European Integration Council, Ms. Radmila Shekerinska, the Chairman of the Committee on European issues, Mr. Hajrula Misini and the Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Mr. Aleksandar Nikoloski.

The Chairperson of the National European Integration Council, Ms. Radmila Shekerinska, on her personal behalf and on behalf of the MPs in the Macedonian Assembly welcomed the Bavarian Parliamentary Delegation, which is visiting the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in an important moment - we are expecting the Progress Report on the Republic of Macedonia for 2011 the next week.

Ms. Shekerinska referred to the composition, the goals and the work of the National European Integration Council. The participants exchanged views on the perception of the citizens for the present situation prior the Progress Report and the reactions after we receive the Report, whether the society has high expectations, the consequences if these expectations are not fulfilled. Another point of discussion was the influence of the National European Integration Council over the parliament, on one hand, and the influence over the Government in the process of adoption of main decisions regarding the EU affairs, on the other.

Mr. Hajrula Misini, Chairman of the Committee on European Issues, expressed appreciation for the selfless support of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Republic of Macedonia on its European Integration path.

The Chairman Misini informed the guests on the work of the Committee on European Issues, underlining that the Membership in the European Union is the only alternative for the Republic of Macedonia and that this is in the interest of both, the governing and the oppositional party, the citizens and we should work together to achieve this goal.

He expressed hope that Macedonia and Germany will remain friends and that they will move the European Integration process forward.
The Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee, Mr. Aleksandar Nikoloski expressed his pleasure for the meeting with the Bavarian Delegation as well as for the traditionally friendly relations, intensive communication between these two states and underlined the importance of the parliamentary cooperation in the promotion of the bilateral relations.

The participants shared their views on the present relations of the Republic of Macedonia with all former Yugoslav countries, including Bulgaria and Albania.

Ms. Ursula Manle, expressed her pleasure from the realised meetings, underlining that beside the fact that they are a Delegation from the Bavarian Parliament, comprised of representatives from different political parties and views, they all have single opinion on the EU Affairs.

She reminded of the Bavarian-Macedonian Committee, which is dedicated on the reforms and its results are positive; and also, that recently the Bavarian- Macedonian Association was established, which can initiate many proposals.
