the delegation from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia participated in the 125th assembly of IPU 

The Delegation from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia comprised of: Mr. Jani Makraduli, Head of Delegation, Ms. Silvana Boneva, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, Mr. Imer Iliu, Mr. Goran Misovski and Mr. Rejhan Durmishi, Members of the Delegation, participated in the 125th Assembly of IPU, held from 16 to 19 October in Bern, Switzerland.

The President of the Swiss Federation, Ms. Micheline Anne-Marie Calmy-Rey opened the session, and underlined the historic link of IPU and Switzerland, as well as the continuous support from Switzerland to IPU. Referring to the role if the IPU, in the solution of the challenges the countries and the international community are faced with, Ms. Micheline Anne-Marie Calmy-Rey expressed her conviction that the numerous participants attending the jubilee assembly of IPU prove the trust of the trust of MPs in the world parliamentary organization.

The Secretary General of the Organization of UN, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, referred to the priorities of UN in the area of sustainable development, democracy, human rights, peace, situation of women and youth, as well as the role of IPU and the National Parliaments in facing these challenges. Reminding that the Charter of UN starts with “We, the peoples...” Mr. Ban Ki-moon underlined that the MPs of IPU represent the voice, the hopes and the will of the nations.

The Report on the Activities of the Members of the Union was presented today on the Meeting of the Steering Council of IPU. This report underlines the activities of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. 

1400 Representatives from 130 countries participate in the 125th jubilee Assembly of IPU. The Agenda of the Assembly includes discussions on the recent events in near East and North Africa, nuclear disarmament, regulation of the financial markets, global ruling, and access to healthcare for women and children. 

The Members of the Assembly are expected to elect new president of IPU, whose mandate lasts three years.
