THE PARLIAMENTS ARE THE ENGINES OF THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Suzana Salui, had a protocol meeting with H.E. Aliar Lebe Abdul Azeez, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, located in Vienna. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Vice President Saliu, congratulated the Ambassador on the appointment and expressed pleasure for this meeting on parliamentary level, since the parliaments are the major engines for all democratic processes.

The Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Suzana Salui reminded of the strategic goal of the Republic of Macedonia- the membership in EU and NATO.

The Ambassador, Mr. Aliar Lebe Abdul Azeez agreed with Ms. Saliu that the Republic of Macedonia continuously worked on the reforms in the past 20 years and it has achieved success.

He encouraged the accession and the success on the path to EU and NATO, without objection by anyone, underlining that the Republic of Macedonia will adjust to the European manner of life, but also that the diversity and the historical heritage will benefit EU and NATO.

The Vice President Saliu expressed her conviction that this meeting will assist the intensification of the cooperation, especially on parliamentary level, and that it will be an impetus for establishing a parliamentary group for cooperation between the parliaments of these two states.

H.E. Aliar Lebe Abdul Azeez agreed that the parliaments are reflection of the events in the society and that they should be the bridges for cooperation between the two states and the citizens. That is why everyone should work on strengthening the parliamentary cooperation.

The interlocutors agreed that there are many similarities between the Democratic Socialist Republic Sri Lanka, as multiethnic, multireligious and multicultural societies, which are the basis for deepening the future relations.
