DENMARK STRONGLY SUPPORTS THE ENLARGEMENT PROCESS

The chairpersons of the National Council for European Integration, the Committee on European Issues, the Foreign Policy Committee, the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Republic of Macedonia and the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia had a joint meeting with the Danish Minister for European Affairs Mr. Nicolai Wammen.

Mr. Hajrula Misini - Chairman of the Committee on European Issues, Ms. Silvana Boneva - Deputy Chairperson of the National Council for European Integration, Ms. Meral Uzeiri-Ferati - Head of the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Antonijo Milošoski - Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy, and Mr. Kenan Hasipi - Co-Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Republic of Macedonia attended the meeting.

Mr. Misini pointed out that the meeting is an excellent possibility to exchange views and experiences regarding the EU integration processes, having in mind the fact that Denmark, the country currently holding the EU Presidency, strongly supports the enlargement process.

The Danish Minister for European Affairs expressed satisfaction with the progress and the will to implement the necessary reforms in the following months, expressed by the Macedonian authorities. Mr. Wammen also said that the high-level dialogue with the EU and the guidelines are important, and although it cannot be a substitute for accession negotiations, it is a step forward. He added that Denmark will continue to support the enlargement process and Macedonia on the road to the EU.
