MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO, MR. HASHIM THAÇI

At the meeting with the Macedonian Parliamentary Delegation, headed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the Prime Minister of Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, the bilateral relations were evaluated as good, with a real tendency for future development.

The President Veljanoski underlined the discussions with the colleagues from Kosovo. The processes for ratification of bilateral agreements should be finalized, since they will bring new quality to the bilateral relations. 

Reminding that the Republic of Macedonia was among the first states that recognized the independence of Kosovo, Mr. Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia is prepared to assist all institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, and to share all positive experience on our Euro-integration path. 

At the meeting, special attention was drawn to the economic relations. 

„As responsible politicians and in the framework of our competences, we are obliged to create conditions for further development of the economic cooperation. I believe that the business community of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo are expecting this development, since this will benefit both communities. In this context, the economic cooperation should cover all areas, including the energy, infrastructure and tourism” underlined Mr. Veljanoski

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, underlined the highly developed relations between the two states in all areas. 
Expressing appreciation for the relations between the two parliaments, the Prime Minister Tachi underlined the institutional stability of the Republic of Macedonia and its institutions in the stability of the Region and its European perspective. 

Referring to the road and energy infrastructure, Mr. Thaçi announced that the construction of the road Pristine- Skopje will start in the second half of 2012, or at the beginning of 2013.
