MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND MR. ROBERT WALTER

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Robert Walter - Rapporteur for the Post Monitoring Dialogue with the Republic of Macedonia. 

At the meeting, the President Veljanoski referred to the achieved results since the last visit of Mr. Walter to the Republic of Macedonia and underlined that the Republic of Macedonia has capacities to handle the situations it is faced with. 

Also, he underlined that in the mentioned period the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia demonstrated institutional capacities to face the challenges.
 
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski emphasised that he expects realistic report for the achieved results and finalization of the Post-monitoring, not as a reward, but as a real evaluation of the achieved institutional capacity.

The Rapporteur for the Post Monitoring Dialogue with the Republic of Macedonia was interested and referred to several points. 

The Ohrid Framework Agreement and connected issues, the incidents in the recent period of inter-ethnic character, the reforms in the public administration and the issues of the media. 

Also, Mr. Walter was interested in the conditions in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and stated that the Assembly function well at this period compared to the period of his last visit when the work was burdened by some issues. 

The President Veljanoski, referring to the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia underlined that the debate on numerous laws and issues and the efficiency in the work of the Assembly are present. 

Furthermore, the President Veljanoski referred to the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement and underlined that the Republic of Macedonia has achieved a lot in the past 10 years, in accordance with its economic power.

Regarding the situation of the media, the President Veljanoski underlined the present discussions and the solutions that will result from the discussions in the following months.
