MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY, MR. CEMIL ÇIÇEK

The overall bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey are more than friendly and progressing in all areas. In this framework, the parliamentary cooperation is especially important, underlined the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski. Emphasising the  continuous friendly and principle policy of the Republic of Turkey, the President  Veljanoski expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the assistance and the support provided by the Republic of Turkey in the Euro-integrative processes of the Republic of Macedonia, especially for our membership in NATO, expressing his conviction that we will receive this support on the next NATO Summit as well.

Speaking of the regional cooperation, especially on the level of parliaments, the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey, with its principle policy on the basis of the European principles, are a significant factor to the region and its Euro-Atlantic integration. Considering that the Republic of Macedonia takes over the South East European Co-operation Process from July, we will jointly contribute in the stability, the economic development and the Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Region, underlined President Veljanoski.
The President of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Cemil Çiçek, expressing appreciation of the meeting and the discussions, underlined that for the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Macedonia was and will be an important partner and friend in all areas.

The Republic of Turkey especially appreciates the contribution of the Republic of Macedonia in the stability of the region, and also, you have fulfilled the conditions for full-fledged membership in NATO and your active contribution in the peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Afghanistan should be appreciated. That is why, Turkey, during the Bucharest Summit, and afterwards, will continue its work and support for the full-fledged membership of Macedonia in NATO- underlined Mr. Cemil Çiçek.

Another topic of the meeting was the economic cooperation. Both Presidents underlined that there is a positive tendency in this area, but that there are many other possibilities to develop this cooperation through investments of Turkish Companies in the Republic of Macedonia.
