MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF KOSOVO, MR. JAKUP KRASNIQI
Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, headed by the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and comprised of the Vice President, Mr. Jani Makraduli, the MPs: Mr. Talat Xhaferi, Ms. Svetlana Karapetrova and Mr. Bekim Fazliu is officially visiting Kosovo.
At the meeting with the President of the Assembly of Kosovo, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined that the overall bilateral relations are progressing and benefit the stability of the Region.
Reminding that the Republic of Macedonia was among the first states that recognized the independence of Kosovo, Mr. Veljanoski underlined that the state is constantly determined to develop the neighbourly relations. This is a European principle and the Region shares the Euro- Atlantic integration thus we fully support the completeness of Kosovo, respecting the individual and collective rights, underlined the President Veljanoski.
Considering that this is the first meeting of Speakers, the President Veljanoski emphasised that the meeting will provide a positive impetus for the development of the overall relations, especially in the relations of the two parliaments. The Macedonian Assembly is prepared to share the experience in the European integration process and in the area of building efficient and functional institutions with the colleagues from Kosovo.
The President Veljanoski referred to the situation of the Macedonian minority in the Region of Gora in Kosovo, reminding that this minority is recognized by the international factor as an ethnic community, whose mother tongue is Macedonian.
The President Veljanoski expressed hope that the status of the Macedonian community will be resolved in accordance with the European principles which will provide them preservation and development of their ethnic, linguistic and cultural identity.
Regarding the economic cooperation, the President Veljanoski underlined that Kosovo is a significant trade partner for Macedonia. This cooperation should be further developed in the future, especially the mutual investments, energy and transport.
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Jakup Krasniqi expressed appreciation from today’s meeting and underlined the highly developed political and economic relations.
He stated that Macedonia has experience in the process of European Integration, and Kosovo is pleased to accept the proposal to share the experience with the Republic of Macedonia in this process, since this is significant for us and for the Region, underlined the President Krasniqi.
He also underlined that the Assembly of Kosovo will soon establish Parliamentary group for cooperation with the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia which is certainly an impetus for the mutual relations.
