Meeting of the president veljanoski and the serbian president tomislav nikolik

The friendly relations and the mutual support between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia were once again confirmed at today’s meeting of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and the Serbian President, Mr. Tomislav Nikolik. The topics of the meeting referred to the challenges of the two states expecting the date on opening accession negotiations with EU; the discussion on the name dispute, but also the church issue between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia and the possibility for surpassing it.

Veljanoski and Nikolik expressed their pleasure from the intensification of the cooperation and the meetings of Macedonian and Serbian representatives. The President of the Republic of Serbia underlined that Serbia has only good wishes for Macedonia and that Macedonia has a friend and ally on the South.

The President Veljanoski underlined that the two states must execute the EU agenda and that the politicians are obliged and responsible to realize this agenda as soon as possible. He conveyed his conviction that in June Macedonia and Serbia will receive date on opening accession negotiations.

“The reforms are being done our benefit and for the benefit of the citizens, for being more competitive on the market, more prepared once the negotiations start” said Veljanoski.

He also expressed appreciation of everything Serbia has done for the Macedonian community and underlined that Serbs in Macedonia are loyal to the state.

The official visit of Mr. Veljanoski to Belgrade is in an especially important period for Macedonia and in the context of the good neighbourly relations; and for Belgrade, this is a specific moment of negotiations for Kosovo in Brussels.
