THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI WELCOMED THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA, MR. IVICA DACIC

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the highly developed relations between the two states and nations, which a re characterised with good neighbourly relations, security and stability, on bilateral, regional and multilateral level, high degree of trust, without open or controversial issues. The meeting emphasised the common future in the framework of the process of integration in the European Union, and the preparedness of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia was underlined in the context of sharing the so far experiences.

The President Veljanoski underlined that the bilateral cooperation is not a common interest alone, but an interest of the whole region and its Euro-Atlantic perspective. Hence, the regional cooperation is especially appreciated by Brussels, as one of the basic principles of the European Union.

Regarding the economic cooperation, President Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Serbia is a significant and one of the greatest partners of the Republic of Macedonia and that the trade and cooperation in the economy should be strengthened and promoted. This should be executed through joint projects, that will benefit both states, but also the region and the President Veljanoski underlined the finalization of Corridor 10 in this context.

Also, he underlined the pleasure from the regional and successful cooperation on highest level, through visits of official delegations, as well as visits of parliamentary committees from the two states.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, expressing appreciation from the visit to the Republic of Macedonia, underlined that the development of the good neighbourly relations are of great importance for the Republic of Serbia.

He also underlined that the economic cooperation in the infrastructure, energy sector, agriculture and joint presentations on third markets is very significant and that the both states have got the capacities to developed this cooperation.

Regarding the European integration, Mr. Dacic noted that the European integration of the two states is a significant factor that would influence the dynamics of the reforms in the two states, as well as the regional stability in general.

Both sides evaluated the position of the ethnic communities, the Serbs in the Republic of Macedonia and the Macedonian Community in the Republic of Serbia as very good and underlined that the relations between the communities will be cherished and developed in the future as well.
