Meeting of the president veljanoski and the delegation of MEPs, representatives of the european people’s party, headed by the VICE PRESIDENT of epp, ms. CORIEN WORTMANN-KOLL  

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski welcomed the delegation and informed its members on the general political and economic situation in the Republic of Macedonia

Regarding the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, the President Veljanoski underlined that the Assembly is focused on many topics, but the most important is the process of European integration, as well as implementation of the adopted laws and reforms.  

The President Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia has received recommendation from the European Commission for opening negotiations with EU in the past three consecutive years.

He underlined that the Republic of Macedonia will impose all efforts to achieve its strategic determinations- overall integration in EU and NATO and solution of the dispute with the Southern neighbour.

The President Veljanoski seized the opportunity and appealed to the representatives of EPP to act within their competences for integration of the Republic of Macedonia as soon as possible.

The President Veljanoski also informed the EPP Representatives on the events from last year, as well as on the circumstances and actions prior these events. He underlined that in his 5 year mandate, the opposition blocked the work of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia three times.

Expressing appreciation and pleasure from the visit to the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Corien Wortmann-Koll underlined that there is progress in the achieved reforms and that the Republic of Macedonia should receive support from all Member States of the European Union.

She also stated that she had a positive opinion regarding the inclusion of the young people in the social flows of the state and expressed wish that the name dispute between the two states will be resolved as soon as possible, opening the path of the Republic of Macedonia to the European family.
