PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE PARLIAMENTARIANS SPASENOVKI AND GJORČEV MET THE LEADERSHIP OF THE UNITED MACEDONIAN DIASPORA AND THE NATIONAL ALBANIAN AMERICAN COUNCIL

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia today met with the President of the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) Meto Koloski and with other leading members of UMD. During the cordial meeting, the UMD representatives were interested in the discussions President Veljanoski had in the United Nations and in Washington, the current political developments in the Republic of Macedonia and the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of the country.

They also reiterated their idea for establishing a Ministry for the diaspora, and informed about their good cooperation with the parliamentarians representing the Macedonian diaspora. The problems of the diaspora were also discussed, as well as the possibilities for additional efforts for better realization of the activities and for resolving the problems from the institutions of the Republic of Macedonia and the UMD leadership.

The activities and measures necessary for increasing the interest of the immigrants to vote at the presidential and parliamentary elections in Macedonia was one of the topics of interest at the meeting.

The Macedonian parliamentarians Aleksandar Spasenovski and Vlatko Gjorčev took part in the meeting.

The delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia headed by President Veljanoski, together with the Minister of Economy Valon Saraqini, met Mr. Avni Mustafaj - Executive Director of the National Albanian American Council (NAAC). Mr. Mustafaj told President Veljanoski and Minister Saraqini that the NAAC gives its support to Macedonia's strategic goals - NATO and EU accession.

They also discussed the relations with Greece and the latest developments in the region, as well as the possibilities for attracting foreign investments. President Veljanoski showed interest in the activities of the Council and was informed that the Council supports Macedonia and that it is prepared to assist the further development of the country.
