THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI WELCOMED THE MINISTER ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA, MR. KARL ERJAVEC

At the Meeting, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined the friendly relations between the two states, based on years long constructive cooperation and mutual support on bilateral and multilateral level. The President Veljanoski expressed appreciation for the position of the Republic of Slovenia towards the Republic of Macedonia, which is clear, constant, as well as loud, unconditioned, continuous and principle support for the Euro integrative process of the Republic of Macedonia.

Regarding the economic cooperation, the Republic of Slovenia is a significant foreign and trade partner of the Republic of Macedonia and is on the list of the major trade partners thereof. In this context, the President Veljanoski expressed conviction for the realization of other investments from Slovenian companies, as well as intensification of the geo thermal tourism and other aspects of using the geo thermal capacities of Macedonia.

The President Veljanoski expressed pleasure form the executed local elections in the Republic of Macedonia, underlining the democratic maturity of the state.

The Minister on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Karl Erjavec expressed appreciation for the meeting, underlining the sincere and friendly relations between the two states. He reaffirmed the support for the Republic of Macedonia regarding the name dispute with Greece, stating that, through constructive discussion and dialogue, both sides can find a solution for the problem. The Republic of Slovenia supports the activities directed towards permanent stabilization of the Region and its integration in NATO and EU. 

Regarding the economic cooperation, he expressed his conviction that Slovenian companies will continue their cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia, as a result of the good economic climate and implemented reforms.

The Minister underlined that he is pleasantly surprised from the great changes and reforms in the state, especially in Skopje, comparing it with his last visit in 2007.

In the end, both sides expressed conviction that in the future the relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia will maintain the high degree of friendship and understanding.
