MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA, MR. ILIR META
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Ilir Meta officially visits the Republic of Macedonia upon an invitation of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski.
In the framework of the visit, a meeting of the two Presidents of Parliament was realized, which referred to the current affairs in the two states, the possibilities for cooperation and promotion of the overall relations.
President Veljanoski, expressing pleasure from the visit of Mr. Meta underlined that the bilateral relations between the two states are good and progressing.
He welcomed the decision of the European Commission for granting the candidate status for Membership in the European Union to Albania, as well as preparedness from Macedonia to convey the 8 years experience as a candidate state, in the context of harmonization of the national legislation with the Acquis.
Mr. Meta, expressing appreciation for the hospitality, underlined the gratitude for the invitation to visit the Republic of Macedonia, especially since this is his first official visit to Macedonia as President of the Assembly of Albania.
President Meta underlined the constant and selfless support from Albania to the Republic of Macedonia for its membership in NATO, as well as the conviction that the two states belong inside European Union.
Additionally, Mr. Meta referred to the development and construction of Corridor 8, i.e. the construction of the railway line between Albania and Macedonia, which will additionally connect the two states and the Region in general.
The interlocutors referred to the ethnic communities that live, work and contribute in the two states; on their role in the societies, as well as the role of the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement and its overall implementation.
Mr. Meta informed the President Veljanoski on the meeting with the mayor of the Municipality Pustec which referred to the greater support towards further integration of the Macedonian minority in the Republic of Albania.
The interlocutors agreed that in addition to the solid cooperation, there is room for promotion of the cooperation in many areas such as energy, environment, agriculture, education, tourism and healthcare.
