MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM, NGUYễN THị DOAN

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the Vice President of the Social Republic of Vietnam, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Doan.

The interlocutors expressed appreciation for the meeting and concluded that this visit is a confirmation of the friendly relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam which is the basis for the future development thereof.

The Vice President of the Social Republic of Vietnam, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Doan underlined the need for intensification of the high level visits, aiming to deepen the bilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors expressed pleasure from the multilateral cooperation in the framework of the United Nations.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the future development of the economic cooperation and the trade between the two states, which at the moment is on a very low level, and the opportunities are not used sufficiently.

The President Veljanoski underlined that the improvement of the economic cooperation provides promotion of the cooperation in all areas; hence the Government of the Republic of Macedonia constantly works on improvement of the conditions for the business community and attraction of foreign investments.

The interlocutors underlined the openness of the two sides for improvement of the economic cooperation, which is on a good track, as well as the Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which is already harmonized.

Ms. Doan underlined that the ratification of the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention from Fiscal Evasion upon the Income and Capital Taxes and the Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Investments between the Republic of Macedonia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam opens the opportunity for establishment of legal framework for future cooperation.

The President Veljanoski emphasised the importance of the Agreement on Abolishment of the Visas for the Bearers of Diplomatic and Official Passports, ratified by the two states and its influence on the political and economic cooperation.  

The President Veljanoski expressed preparedness for promotion of the parliamentary cooperation between the two states, especially since the parliamentary diplomacy can assist the cooperation and between the two states in all areas. 

The interlocutors stressed the need for establishment of parliamentary groups for cooperation and motivation of the cooperation between the committees of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the National Assembly of Vietnam.

In this context, the Vice President of the Social Republic of Vietnam, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Doan extended the invitation from the Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam to the President Veljanoski for official visit of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and delegation of Members of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

The meeting referred to current developments, in the region and in the world, as well as to domestic affairs.  

The meeting was concluded with a joint openness and preparedness for cooperation on all levels and continuation of the friendship between the Republic of Macedonia and the Social Republic of Vietnam.
