MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE RAPPORTEUR OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT FOR THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. IVO VAJGL
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the newly appointed Rapporteur of the European Parliament for the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Ivo Vajgl.
The mutual appreciation for the meeting, as well as hope for future cooperation was expressed at the meeting.
The President Veljanoski expressed his conviction in the good intentions of the European Institutions due to the so far great support in strengthening the legislative house, i.e. improvement of all areas, and the confirmation thereof is the sixth consecutive Report with a positive recommendation for opening accession negotiations.
Also, the President Veljanoski informed the Rapporteur on the current developments in the Republic of Macedonia and the Assembly. He underlined that all political entities are responsible for the parliamentary democracy and in this context referred to the present boycott of the opposition and its negative influence on the work of the Assembly and the overall impression to the public and international community.
Mr. Veljanoski underlined that he, as President, uses all mechanisms of the Rules of Procedure and the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia to enable dialogue between the political parties and that he is strongly convinced that the institutional dialogue alone benefits the state.
The Rapporteur Vajgl underlined his support and sincere friendly relation towards the Republic of Macedonia. He underlined the support for political dialogue through the institutions, above all through the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. He also added that the overall functioning of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia contributes in building positive image of the state and its European integration.
The Rapporteur Vajgl emphasised the responsibility of all political entities, receiving support from the citizens, and that it should be realized through the institutions, in this case through the Assembly.
He supported in facing all challenges towards the European integration of the Republic of Macedonia.
