Message of President Xhaferi on the occasion of the International Day of Conscience for FOWPAL
Dear citizens of the world,
Your Excellency,
Today is International Day of Conscience, a day established by the United Nations and accepted worldwide by the citizens of the world, the statesmen and world policy makers who are aware of the power they wield based on the authority entrusted to them by the citizens they represent. The world is our common home, our common abode in which we all live, all same, yet different. We are all human beings, born with the same needs, the same rights, and yet we do not all enjoy the same rights and benefits that life gives. Life is a miraculous blessing, but at the same time it can be infernally dreadful. And it could be so harmonious and kind to everyone. We all just need to believe, act and raise our voices loudly where social injustice, unequal treatment of human beings, disproportionate competition, uneven growth, development and progress of regions cause varying degrees of well-being, or no prosperity at all. And can anyone be happy if his neighbour, friend, or fellow citizen is unhappy? Can we sleep peacefully and have a clear conscience if somewhere in the world people are hungry, fear for their core life and the life's of their immediate and dear family?
I know it is not easy; day by day it is getting harder with all the challenges facing us. The COVID -19 pandemic completely changed our way of life, the socializing, laughing and spreading positive energy with words of kindness and warm hugs. However, that will not sway us! We are citizens of the world, with a strong voice and power, we have a moral and ethical obligation, first to ourselves, and then to convey that sense of responsibility to all – to care for the other, to take care of every single person, so that every child is fed and never stops smiling. Let us start with personal examples, perhaps with small acts of kindness and humanity, even the smallest act of solidarity is a piece of the puzzle called humanity. And when each individual is united in one body, with one voice, nothing can stand before us and prevent the power of the good word and the good deed. It will make us personally better people, but it will also make the world a better place to live.
May collective happiness be a guiding star in our every future step and day!
Together, let's start the change for the better of all of us!
