PRESIDENT XHAFERI MEETS WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF SERBIA, MAJA GOJKOVIĆ
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, had a courtesy meeting in Belgrade today with the host of the 141. Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Maja Gojković.
President Maja Gojković expressed her gratitude to the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia for their participation in the 141. IPU Assembly at high presidential level, as well as her pleasure that the parliamentary relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia are highly developed, with numerous meetings both at bilateral, and multilateral level.
President Talat Xhaferi thanked for the warm hospitality and congratulated on the excellent organization of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, which is being held in Belgrade for the second time. He assessed that with this, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia reaffirmed its commitment to the IPU goals and principles, such as peace, democracy, cooperation among peoples, building strong representative institutions through a broad and comprehensive parliamentary dialogue.
At the meeting, they exchanged information on the bilateral relations and current developments in the two countries, especially regarding EU integration.
The interlocutors agreed that parliamentary diplomacy is an important segment of daily parliamentary work and an opportunity to promote parliaments’ visibility beyond state borders, but also an opportunity to share common experiences and good practices.
