THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI MET THE BULGARIAN AMBASSADOR MR. IVAN VELIKOV PETKOV  

At the beginning the interlocutors expressed pleasure from the meeting, discussed the recent parliamentary elections held in Bulgaria and referred to the current developments in the establishment of the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria. 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria have close bilateral cooperation, but it needs to be intensified on higher level, through visits of cooperation groups from the two states and visits on highest level.

The President Veljanoski underlined the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy, which can further contribute in the overall relations between the two states. He seized the opportunity to invite Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva, who is elected as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria to officially visit the Republic of Macedonia.

The meeting also referred to the regional cooperation, as well as to the Macedonian – Bulgarian relations. It was emphasised that the trade exchange should be strengthened, which will contribute in the growth of the economies of the two states, as well as the cooperation for improvement of the infrastructure communication between the two states through the Corridor 8 Project. 

The President Veljanoski emphasised the openness of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and his Cabinet for cooperation and continuous cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Macedonia.
