It is my pleasure today, on behalf of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and on my own behalf to be part of and have the honor to greet everyone present at this Solemn Academy, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, which set the new rules of social cohesion and better inter-ethnic functioning, which was the strongest and most solid foundation on which we visibly transformed our multi-ethnic, multi-confessional and multicultural society.

Welcome to the Legislature, to the House of Representatives of the citizens. It is my pleasure to greet you this year and be your host in front of this building, as President of the Assembly Republic of North Macedonia, and to welcome you on my own behalf and on behalf of my fellow MPs in this parliamentary composition at today's solemn marking of 2 August – the Day of the Republic – 118 years of the Krusevo Republic in 1903, and 77 years of the First Assembly of ASNOM in 1944, which represent the two foundation stones of the statehood of the country.

Address of President Xhaferi at the Solemn Session of the Inter-Community Relations Committee on the 20th anniversary of the Ohrid Framework Agreement

I am glad that today the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, with this solemn session of the Inter-Community Relations Committee, as a concrete body arising from the Ohrid Framework Agreement, established by the Assembly, with its competencies determined in accordance with Amendment XII of the Constitution and the Law on Inter-Community Relations Committee, which naturally gives it the right to be engaged, is part of the multi-day celebration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement or the Peace Treaty, as we rightly call it.

On this occasion, allow me to welcome you on my behalf and on behalf of the MPs of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, your home and proud sponsor of the oldest international festival of its kind in the Balkans. The Balkan Festival of Folk Songs and Dances, which tonight, to the great joy of all fans marks its jubilee, the 60th edition since it was first held back in 1962.
