Meeting of the president VELJANOSKI AND THE SPEAKER OF THE SENATE OF THE KINGDOM OF SPAIN, MR. PIO GARCIA-ESCUDERO
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski met with the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. Pio Garcia-Escudero. Both interlocutors expressed pleasure from the meeting and the possibility to contribute in the promotion of the overall relations between the two states.
The President Veljanoski expressed conviction that the parliamentary diplomacy takes its positions and that these meetings contribute for its promotion. He underlined that the opinion and the point of the Kingdom of Spain in regard with the European Integration process, is important for the Republic of Macedonia. He also informed the Speaker on the dedication of the Republic of Macedonia on the path of the European Integration and its membership in NATO, and expressed conviction that the two memberships will happen as soon as possible, for the benefit of the Republic of Macedonia, the Region and Europe.
The President Veljanoski underlined that the present Government that receives the confidence of the citizens since 2006, in all election cycles was strongly engaged in the implementation of the reforms and attraction of foreign investments and that it is important for the Republic of Macedonia, in the accession in the European family to be compatible with the legislation of the community and the rules of the business community
The President of the Senate of Spain, Mr. Pio Escudero expressed his pleasure from the good relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Kingdom of Spain and underlined that Spain strongly and permanently supports the Republic of Macedonia, in both, the integration in the European Union and the NATO structures.
He expressed his conviction that European Union should be complete, fulfilled and strong, to jointly present itself in the world considering all circumstances.
Mr. Escudero underlined that the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Kingdom of Spain is not on the satisfying level, that there is space for promotion, especially in the area of economy, underlining that there are many Spanish companies that express interest for investments in the Republic of Macedonia in the area of infrastructure and renewable energy. Mr. Escudero expressed pleasure from the mutual support of the Republic of Macedonia and the Kingdom of Spain in the framework of the international organizations, expressing his conviction that it will remain as such in the future.
At the meeting with the Chair and the Members of the Committee on Foreign Policy of the Congress of Spain, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on topics important for the two states. The European Integration of the Republic of Macedonia and its Membership in NATO were the topics of interest, as well as the reforms made so far by the Republic of Macedonia, the present political situation and prosperity of the two states, and the areas where the cooperation can be promoted.
The Members of the Committee on Foreign Policy underlined that the Membership of the Republic of Macedonia in EU will be a positive step that will improve the economic and political aspect of the state and the region, and that the entrance of the Republic of Macedonia in the European family is inevitable, and a question of whether it will happen sooner or later.
The President Veljanoski, during the working meeting, was welcomed by the Members of the Congress of Spain, when he attended the Plenary Session of the Congress.
