INTRODUCTORY SESSION FOR THE FUTURE VOLUNTEERS IN THE PARLIAMENTARY INSTITUTE

Officials of the Legislative department, the Working bodies department of the Parliamentary Institute and by representatives of NDI Macedonia took part in the workshop. It was held on 19 and 20 October 2016, at the Educational Centre of the Parliamentary Institute. In the first part of the workshop, experiences on the role and responsibilities of the Legislative department of the Assembly of Macedonia and the Legislative departments of the Assemblies of Central and Eastern Europe were exchanged.

Zuzana Papazoski, the Director of the NDI Western Balkans Legislative Strengthening Program, shared the assessments and recommendations for strengthening/improving the work of the Legislative department, as well as the experience in implementing the volunteering program in the National Council of the Slovak Republic.

The workshop was attended by selected candidates, volunteers in the Parliamentary Institute and they were familiarized with the place and role of the Assembly in the system of parliamentary democracy in the Republic of Macedonia, with the services offered by the Parliamentary Institute, the work of the Legislative archive and the indexing standards for legal documents. During the discussion, the responsibilities and expectations from the volunteers in the Parliamentary Institute in their six-month job, were emphasized.
